Corporate Relations
Industry plays an important role in Engineering at Yale. Leaders in industry provide valuable input to the Dean of Engineering by serving as members of the SEAS Advisory Council. The mission of the Senior Advisory Committee is to “provide counsel and advice to the Dean of Engineering as well as the Yale Administration, as well as the Provost and the President of Yale University, on the development of Engineering strategies and programs so as to enhance the role and impact of Yale Engineering at Yale to both internal and external audiences.”
Industry leaders and researchers are invited and encouraged by our student organizations to come to campus and give talks to expand Yale Engineering students' understanding of how their studies contribute to the development of careers. Industry leaders have also taken part as speakers in the Sheffield Fellowship Program and the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series and are also also welcome to attend Undergraduate Senior Project presentations to provide valuable critiques.
Many Engineering faculty members interact with industry as consultants, sharing their expertise and also keeping abreast of the needs of industry. Faculty members in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical & Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and the Program in Environmental Engineering extend their teaching and research expertise beyond the University by way of consulting. Companies that have called upon the expertise of our faculty include:
