Areas of Research

Research at Yale’s School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS) spans across all of the most pressing, promising, and engaging topics underpinning our technologically-driven world.   Many of these research areas, highlighted below, are interdisciplinary and benefit from the myriad expertise that exists at Yale. Collaboration is often a cornerstone for successful research and exists not only amongst Engineering faculty, but also across all of Yale University and its Professional Schools.  At the same time, we also recognize that certain problems require the expertise and focused efforts that originate from the single laboratories of world-renowned scholars who are defining new fields.  We invite you to explore all of the research opportunities in our diverse portfolio by visiting faculty homepages as well as the Areas of Research featured by each department (see links on left).
