The Yale Difference

The Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS) treats Engineering as a curriculum in leadership for the 21st century, understanding that professional engineering is only one of many options for a SEAS graduate. The skills of engineering - quantitative reasoning, teamwork, and the habit of breaking complex problems into manageable pieces - are as valuable to those pursuing engineering as a career as they are to those who move toward careers in medicine, law, business and other fields. All SEAS students benefit from the intimacy in education and large breadth in research the school offers. Students learn from some of the top engineers and scientists in the world while participating in discovery at the cutting edge. Whether it's nanoscience, quantum computing, targeted drug delivery, or sustainability issues, our researchers are engaged in the most innovative research of our time, making transformative breakthroughs that tackle some of today’s greatest societal needs.

“Yale has made me confident to face my professional career and any engineering challenges ahead.”

“The strength of the Yale Engineering program and of Yale University as a whole helped me to advance my research and make valuable professional contacts.”

“The communal spirit fostered at Yale that encourages collaboration and individual support is unique and allows each student to succeed creatively.”

“Collaboration and close interaction between students and faculty is a great strength.”
